I got an email from Best Buy’s Reward Zone last night with an offer to enter a contest. The prize? An all inclusive trip to Whistler for 2 days to the World Ski & Snowboard Festival and a Zune. I figured, what can I loose?
So I go to the website, do the whole retrieve password bit, because I don’t remember actually ever coming here but I do know they have my email address. I login, and… there’s nothing. No offer, no contest, nothing.
I send them an email complaining, wtf, you have a contest running that doesn’t work!. I log out of the site and after it refreshes there it is, an image/banner announcing the contest. So I click on it, and it tells me all I have to do is login and enter the contest.
Alright… maybe their servers are slow and haven’t synced. So I log in again. And again…nothing. No contest.
I’m going to be honest here, it bothers me. Did they create a contest that was un-winnable? Did a developer somewhere forgot to put an if statement letting people that were logged in enter? Or are they just scamming us? Ugh.
Edit 1:30pm: They replied to my email and addressed the issue. Not bad. Honestly though, get better developers.
