Sad for students that juggle work and school. As a commenter put it:
“Shame on you! Just when the people are suffering are the economic downturn, and they are charging more to part-time students. Where do they think the students get the money from, a bailout from the government? Cut your unnecessary expenses and fat payroll to do more for less, your low skill of just charging more does not warrant the high pay you get. ”and…
“Student’s choice: overload or pay for courses you don’t take. ‘Arts and Science faculty officials hailed the move as a way to generate $8 million to $14 million more a year.’ Of course charging students for courses they don’t even take will raise revenue. This will only result in more students unable to attend university- you can’t work a part-time job when you’re overloading on courses, and you can’t afford to pay for courses you don’t actually take. I’d like to know when Canadians are going to realize they need to support higher education in this country- you can’t sit there complaining about a doctor shortage (eg) while simultaneously making higher education impossible for all but the richest, regardless of talent, interest or ability.
