Overheard in Toronto
Overheard on the southbound Spadina streetcar, from “a group of college-age girls, one a French exchange student,” the rest apparently locals.
French student: Why do you call eet a—how-do-you-say?—street car?
Other girls, laughing at her: Yep, it’s called a streetcar.
French student: Is very strange, eet is not a car, eet is a train. Are you sure there is not another name?...
